• Welcome to Chambers

We are a Suffolk-based bus operator carrying around 1.6m passengers a year throughout Suffolk and Essex with a fleet of approximately 30 vehicles - 22 of them purchased since 2010 with an investment of nearly £500,000.

Company

Established in 1877, the company now operates with the support of around 50 people. In June 2012 Chambers was acquired by Go-Ahead Group, one of the UK’s largest public transport operators.

Our routes

Sudbury is the hub of the network with services to Bury St Edmunds and Colchester, in Essex. The bus division operates a mixture of commercial and subsidised routes, as well as school contracts for local authorities. The coach side of the business offers private hire for all occasions.

Our fleet

Since being acquired by Go-Ahead in June 2012 significant improvements have been made to the profile of the bus fleet. The first low-floor easy access buses have joined the fleet making it easier for disabled persons and parents with a buggy to board. All twenty-two of the new buses that have arrived wear a new contemporary livery.

Websites

Our website has software helping make accessing site content easier for people with dyslexia or sight problems and also for those that don't use English as a first language. The SpeakMe recite software programme includes text to speech functionality, translates text into 52 languages and as well as colour and contrast settings and making the font larger. This feature enables passengers to personalise the websites sites to suit them.
